Adhyāya 284: Tapas as a Corrective to Household Attachment

Parāśara’s Instruction

ये नदीषु समुद्रेषु पर्वतेषु गुहासु च । वृक्षमूलेषु गोछ्ठेषु कान्तारे गहनेषु च

ye nadīṣu samudreṣu parvateṣu guhāsu ca | vṛkṣamūleṣu goṣṭheṣu kāntāre gahaneṣu ca ||

Sabi ni Bhīṣma: “Walang humpay na pagpupugay sa mga namumunong kapangyarihang banal, mga diyos na tagapagbantay na lumalaganap bilang mga tagapangalaga sa mga ilog at karagatan, sa mga bundok at yungib, sa mga ugat ng puno, sa mga kulungan ng baka, at sa mga liblib at masinsing gubat. Sa pagkilala sa kanilang pag-iral sa lahat ng dako—sa kalikasan, sa tahanan, at sa malalayong pook—nahuhubog ang paggalang, pagpipigil, at dharmikong kamalayan na ang daigdig ay pinaninirahan ng banal na kaayusan.”
