कामद्रुम-रूपकः तथा शरीर-पुर-रूपकः

The Desire-Tree and the Body-as-City Metaphors

न तर्कशास्त्रदग्धाय तथैव पिशुनाय च । जो वेदका विद्वान्‌ न हो

na tarkaśāstra-dagdhāya tathaiva piśunāya ca | yo vedakaḥ vidvān na bhavet, anugata-bhakto na bhavet, doṣa-dṛṣṭi-rahito na bhavet, sarala-svabhāvo na bhavet, ājñākārī na bhavet; tarkaśāstra-nindayā nindayā yasya hṛdayaṃ dagdhaṃ rasa-śūnyaṃ jātaṃ, yaś ca pareṣāṃ piśunatāṃ karoti—tādṛśebhyo ’sya jñānasya upadeśo na yuktaḥ ||

Sinabi ni Vyāsa: “Ang aral na ito ay hindi dapat ituro sa taong ang puso’y natuyong parang sinunog ng mapagtunggaling lohika, ni sa mapanirang-puri. Kung ang isang tao’y hindi tunay na marunong, hindi tapat na tagasunod, hindi malaya sa ugaling maghanap ng mali, hindi payak ang likas, at hindi masunurin—at kung sa walang tigil na pagpuna at pakikipagtalo tungkol sa agham ng pangangatwiran ay napaso at naubos ang kanyang kalooban, nawalan ng lasa sa katotohanan, at siya pa’y mahilig manira sa likuran—kung gayon, hindi nararapat na turuan siya ng kaalamang ito.”
