Knowing the subtle principle and the bhūtātman through yoga
A person who is inwardly fulfilled by true wisdom, and who has abandoned fear and craving, is not dominated by death; freedom from desire and fear is presented as the ethical and spiritual basis for transcending mortality.
In the didactic setting of Śānti Parva, Vyāsa states a general principle about the liberated or steady-minded person: inner contentment born of wisdom removes the grip of fear and desire, and therefore death is no longer an overpowering threat.
