आत्मदर्शन-उपदेशः (Ātma-darśana Upadeśa) — Mind, Senses, and the All-pervading Self
एतां द्वादशसाहसत्रीं युगाख्यां कवयो विदु: । सहस्रपरिवर्त तद् ब्राह्मं दिवसमुच्यते,इस प्रकार देवताओंके बारह हजार वर्षोका एक चतुर्युग होता है; यह विद्वानोंकी मान्यता है। एक सहस्र चतुर्युगको ब्रह्माका एक दिन बताया जाता है
etāṃ dvādaśasāhastrīṃ yugākhyāṃ kavayo viduḥ | sahasraparivarta tad brāhmaṃ divasam ucyate ||
Wika ni Vyāsa: Nalalaman ng mga pantas na ang panahong tinatawag na yuga ay katumbas ng labindalawang libong (taon) ayon sa bilang ng mga deva. Ang isang libong pag-ikot na gayon (ng siklo ng apat na yuga) ay ipinahahayag na bumubuo sa isang araw ni Brahmā. Sa gayon, inilalagay ng aral ang panahon ng tao sa loob ng napakalawak na kaayusang kosmiko, at hinihikayat ang pagpapakumbaba at katatagan sa dharma sa gitna ng pag-angat at pagbagsak ng mga panahon.
व्यास उवाच
Cosmic time is measured in vast cycles: a yuga is reckoned as twelve thousand years of the gods, and a thousand such yuga-cycles make one day of Brahmā. The ethical implication is to cultivate detachment, patience, and commitment to dharma despite the immense, cyclical nature of worldly change.
Vyāsa is explaining a cosmological doctrine of time-reckoning—how yugas are counted and how they aggregate into Brahmā’s day—within the Shānti Parva’s broader instruction on order, duty, and the structure of the universe.
