Time-Reckoning, Yuga-Dharma, and the Sequence of Creation
आहु: सर्वमिदं चिन्त्यं जना: केचिन्मनीषया । अस्या: पज्चैव चिन्ताया: पर्येष्यामि च पञजचधा
āhuḥ sarvam idaṃ cintyaṃ janāḥ kecin manīṣayā | asyāḥ pañcaiva cintāyāḥ paryeṣyāmi ca pañcadhā ||
Wika ni Śakra: “May ilang mapagnilay, sa lakas ng kanilang talino, ang nagsasabing ang lahat ng ito’y dapat pagnilayan bilang Brahman sa pangalang ‘Panahon’ (kāla). Dapat itong pagbulayan sa gayong anyo mismo. Ang pagninilay na ito’y may limang pangunahing paksa; susuriin ko at ilalahad ang limang-uring pagninilay na ito.”
श॒क्र उवाच
The verse presents a contemplative doctrine: some sages identify the ultimate principle (Brahman) with ‘Time’ (kāla) and recommend meditating on reality through that lens, structured as a fivefold inquiry.
Indra (Śakra) speaks, reporting a philosophical view held by certain wise thinkers and announcing that he will analyze and explain a five-part scheme of contemplation concerning Time as the supreme principle.
