सदैव याचमानेषु तथा दम्भान्वितेषु च । एतेषु दक्षिणा दत्ता दावाग्नाविव दुर्हुतम्‌

Transliteration

sadaiva yācamāneṣu tathā dambhānvitēṣu ca | eteṣu dakṣiṇā dattā dāvāgnāv iva durhutam ||

Translation

Kapag ang mga handog ay ibinibigay sa mga taong walang tigil sa pamamalimos, at gayundin sa mga nadungisan ng pagkukunwari at pagpapakitang-tao, ang kawanggawang iyon ay tulad ng alay na maling naibuhos sa apoy ng gubat—nilalamon lamang, at hindi nagbubunga ng inaasahang kabanalan o kabutihang-asal.
