Draupadī’s Exhortation on Rājadharma and Daṇḍa (द्रौपद्याः राजधर्मोपदेशः)

कि पुन: पुरुषव्याप्र पतयो मे नरर्षभा: । समस्तानीन्द्रियाणीव शरीरस्य विचेष्टने,पुरुषसिंह! शत्रुओंको संताप देनेवाले आपके ये सभी भाई शत्रु-सैनिकोंका वेग सहन करनेमें समर्थ हैं, देवताओंके समान तेजस्वी हैं, मेरा विश्वास है कि इनमेंसे एक वीर भी मुझे पूर्ण सुखी बना सकता है, फिर ये मेरे पाँचों नरश्रेष्ठ पति क्या नहीं कर सकते हैं? शरीरको चेष्टाशील बनानेमें सम्पूर्ण इन्द्रियोंका जो स्थान है, वही मेरे जीवनको सुखी बनानेमें इन सबका है

ki punaḥ puruṣavyāghra patayo me nararṣabhāḥ | samastānīndriyāṇīva śarīrasya viceṣṭane ||

Sinabi ni Vaiśampāyana: “Gaano pa kaya, O tigre sa mga tao, ang magagawa ng aking mga asawa—ang pinakamahuhusay na lalaki, matitibay na tulad ng mga toro? Kung paanong ang lahat ng pandama na magkakasama ang nagbibigay-kakayahan sa katawan na kumilos, gayon din silang lahat na magkakasama ang sumusuporta at bumubuo sa aking kagalingan. Ang mga kapatid mo, na nagpapahirap sa kaaway, ay kayang salubungin ang rumaragasang hukbo ng mga kalaban at nagniningning na tila mga diyos. Naniniwala ako na kahit isa lamang sa gayong bayani ay sapat upang maging panatag at kuntento ako—kaya ano pa ang hindi magagawa ng aking limang mararangal na asawa?”
