Kṣemadarśa–Kālakavṛkṣīya Saṃvāda: Counsel on Impermanence, Non-attachment, and Composure in Dispossession
Bhīṣma teaches kṣānti (forbearance) and non-envy: one should patiently accept that wealth and success may be with others, and cultivate the skill and steadiness to live well without resentment, making wise use of whatever fortune is available.
In Śānti Parva, Bhīṣma instructs Yudhiṣṭhira on dharma and right conduct after the war. Here he advises a king to restrain jealousy over others’ prosperity and to adopt the practical wisdom of the capable, who can benefit from circumstances even when Lakṣmī is not personally with them.
