Adhyāya 45 — Duryodhana’s Distress, Śakuni’s Counsel, and the Summons for Dyūta
A righteous public rite succeeds when impediments are removed, resources are responsibly marshalled, and protection is ensured; prosperity is shown not as private hoarding but as sustained provision—especially food—for the community involved in the yajña.
Vaiśampāyana describes a sacrifice whose earlier disturbances have been pacified. With abundant wealth and grain and under Kṛṣṇa’s protection, the ritual proceeds smoothly and continuously, with no shortage of food and plentiful offerings and provisions available throughout.
