Adhyāya 33: Antarvedī-Samāgama, Arghya-Nirṇaya, and Śiśupāla’s Objection
धर्म्यर्धनागमैस्तस्य ववृधे निचयो महान् । कर्तु यस्य न शक््येत क्षयो वर्षशतैरपि,धर्मपूर्वक प्राप्त होनेवाले धनकी आयसे उनका महान् धन-भण्डार इतना बढ़ गया था कि सैकड़ों वर्षोतक खुले हाथ लुटानेपर भी उसे समाप्त नहीं किया जा सकता था
dharmyārthanāgamais tasya vavṛdhe nicayo mahān | kartu yasya na śakyeta kṣayo varṣaśatair api ||
Wika ni Vaiśampāyana: Sa yaman na natamo sa matuwid at makatarungang paraan ayon sa dharma, lumaki nang lubha ang kanyang dakilang kabang-yaman, anupa’t kahit gugulin nang bukas-palad sa loob ng daan-daang taon ay hindi pa rin mauubos.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Wealth gained through dharmic, lawful means is portrayed as enduring and socially beneficial; it supports sustained giving and stability, unlike wealth obtained through adharma which is morally and practically precarious.
The narrator describes the extraordinary growth of a person’s treasury due to righteous sources of income, emphasizing that the accumulation became so immense it could not be depleted even over centuries of lavish expenditure.
