छत्राणि वालव्यजनानि शड्खा- श्छिन्नापविद्धाश्ष स्रजो विचित्रा: । सुवर्णमय अंगदोंसे विभूषित धनुष, सोनेके विचित्र पंखवाले बाण, ऋष्टि, पानीदार एवं कोशरहित निर्मल खड्ग तथा सुनहरे डंडोंसे युक्त प्रास, छत्र, चँवर, शंख और विचित्र मालाएँ छिन्न-भिन्न होकर फेंकी पड़ी हैं ।।
śalya uvāca | chatrāṇi vāla-vyajanāni śaṅkhāś chinnāpaviddhāś ca srajo vicitrāḥ | suvarṇamaya-aṅgadāṃś ca vibhūṣitāni dhanuṃṣi, suvarṇa-vicitra-pakṣa-vanto bāṇāḥ, ṛṣṭayaḥ, pāṇidārāḥ kośa-rahitāḥ nirmalāḥ khaḍgāḥ, suvarṇa-daṇḍa-yuktāḥ prāsāḥ, chatrāṇi, cāmarāṇi, śaṅkhāḥ, vicitrā mālāś ca chinna-bhinnāḥ kṣiptāḥ patitāḥ santi | kuthāḥ patākā-ambara-bhūṣaṇāni kirīṭa-mālā-mukuṭāś ca śubhrāḥ ||
Wika ni Śalya: “Narito, nagkalat at wasak, ang mga payong-dangal, mga pamaypay na buntot-yak, mga kabibe (conch), at mga kuwintas ng bulaklak na sari-sari. Mga busog na pinalamutian ng gintong anggada, mga palasong may kahanga-hangang gintong balahibo, mga sibat, mga makinang na espadang hinugot sa kaluban na may hilt na may hiyas, at mga lansang may gintong tangkay—lahat ay nabali at itinapon. Pati mga lalagyan ng palaso, kasama ang mga bandila, kasuotan, palamuti, at mga kumikislap na korona at diadema, ay nakahandusay sa paligid.”
शल्य उवाच
The verse underscores the fragility of worldly splendor: royal emblems and costly weapons—symbols of power and status—end up broken and discarded on the battlefield, hinting at the impermanence of pride and possessions amid adharma-driven conflict.
Shalya describes the battlefield aftermath: shattered ceremonial items (parasols, fans, conches, garlands) and scattered weapons and ornaments (bows, arrows, spears, unsheathed swords, quivers, banners, crowns) lying broken and thrown about, conveying the scale and ruin of the fighting.
