अध्याय ९ — कर्णस्य प्रहारः, योधयुग्मनियोजनम्, शैनेय-कैकेययोर्युद्धविन्यासः
तदिदं समनुप्राप्तं वचन दीर्घदर्शिन: । उनकी इस बातको न माननेके कारण अवश्य ही मेरा पुत्र शोक कर रहा है। दूरदर्शी भीष्मजीकी वह बात आज सफल होकर सामने आयी है
tad idaṃ samanupprāptaṃ vacanaṃ dīrghadarśinaḥ |
Nagninilay si Dhṛtarāṣṭra na ang payong malayong-tanaw na minsang sinabi ay ngayo’y nagkatotoo sa harap ng kaniyang mga mata. Dahil hindi tinanggap ng kaniyang anak ang payong iyon, siya ngayon ay di-maiiwasang nilalamon ng dalamhati; ang babala ng marunong na si Bhīṣma ay napatunayang totoo sa malupit na katotohanan ng digmaan.
