Shloka 503

राक्षसा: सह यादोभि: श्वसृगालाश्व कर्णत: । प्रेत, पिशाच, मांसभोजी पशु-पक्षी, राक्षस, जल-जन्तु, कुत्ते और सियार--ये कर्णके पक्षमें हो गये

sañjaya uvāca | rākṣasāḥ saha yādobhiḥ śvaśṛgālāśva karṇataḥ | preta-piśāca-māṃsabhogī paśu-pakṣī rākṣasa jala-jantu kutte aur siyār—ye karṇake pakṣaṃ ho gaye |

Sinabi ni Sañjaya: Kasama ng mga Rākṣasa at mga Yādava, ang mga aso, asong-gubat (jackal), at mga kabayo—gayundin ang mga preta at piśāca, mga nilalang na kumakain ng laman, mga hayop at ibon, iba pang rākṣasa, mga nilalang sa tubig, at mga kumakain ng bangkay—ay nakitang pumapanig sa panig ni Karṇa. Ipinapahiwatig ng salaysay ang isang masamang pangitain at madilim na himig sa paligid ng kampo ni Karṇa, na wari’y nagtitipon ang mga di-mapalad na puwersa at mapanirang pagnanasa kung saan ang adharma ay tila lumalakas sa digmaan.
