Even in righteous warfare, one must act from duty rather than wounded pride. Yudhiṣṭhira authorizes the necessary act against Karṇa while explicitly asking Arjuna not to cling to anger over earlier harsh speech—showing that ethical action includes repairing relationships and restraining resentment.
After tension caused by Yudhiṣṭhira’s severe words to Arjuna, he retracts the emotional sting and formally grants permission and encouragement to confront and kill Karṇa. The moment re-centers Arjuna on his battlefield responsibility and restores unity among the Pāṇḍavas.
