Arjuna’s Rapid Advance and the Bhīma–Śakuni Encounter
The verse highlights the warrior-ethic of steadiness under pressure: strength is not merely physical (arms and grip) but also resolve. It frames combat as a test of endurance and composure when a formidable opponent advances.
Sañjaya, reporting the battle, expresses anxious concern and points out that Aśvatthāman (Drauṇi) is pressing forward in the fight. The line functions as a vivid battlefield update emphasizing the intensity of the encounter.
