संजय उवाच शृणु व्यूहस्य रचनामर्जुनश्ष यथा गत: । परिवार्य नृपं स्वं स्व॑ संग्रामश्चाभवद्‌ यथा,संजय कहते हैं--राजन्‌! व्यूहकी रचना किस प्रकार हुई थी, अर्जुन कैसे और कहाँ चले गये थे और अपने-अपने राजाको सब ओरसे घेरकर दोनों दलोंके योद्धाओंने किस प्रकार संग्राम किया था? यह सब बताता हूँ, सुनिये

sañjaya uvāca śṛṇu vyūhasya racanām arjunaś ca yathā gataḥ | parivārya nṛpaṁ svaṁ svaṁ saṅgrāmaś cābhavad yathā ||

Wika ni Sanjaya: “O Hari, makinig. Isasalaysay ko kung paano inayos ang pormasyon, paano at saan nagtungo si Arjuna, at kung paano naglaban ang mga mandirigma ng dalawang hukbo—na pinalilibutan ang kani-kanilang hari sa lahat ng panig—sa gitna ng digmaan.”
