मया हिमवत: शृड्गमेकेनाध्युषितं चिरम् । दृष्टाश्न बहवो देशा नानाधर्मसमावृता:,“मैंने अकेले ही दीर्घकालतक हिमालयके शिखरपर निवास किया है और विभिन्न धर्मोंसे सम्पन्न बहुत-से देश देखे हैं
mayā himavataḥ śṛṅgam ekenādhyuṣitaṃ ciram | dṛṣṭāś ca bahavo deśā nānādharmasamāvṛtāḥ ||
Wika ni Karna: “Namuhay akong mag-isa nang matagal sa isang tuktok ng Himavat, at nakita ko ang maraming lupain—bawat isa’y nababalutan at nahuhubog ng iba’t ibang anyo ng dharma.”
कर्ण उवाच
Karna appeals to lived experience: dharma is encountered in many forms across different lands and communities. The verse frames moral judgment as something informed by wide observation and disciplined solitude, not merely by inherited opinion.
In Karna Parva, Karna is speaking and establishes his authority by recounting a long solitary residence on a Himalayan peak and his travels/observations of many regions marked by diverse dharmic practices, setting up a broader argument he is about to make.
