Even when divine action appears fierce, it can be motivated by loka-hita (the welfare of the worlds). The verse presents punishment of destructive forces as a restoration of dharma and cosmic balance, distinguishing righteous severity from selfish cruelty.
Bhīṣma states that Maheśvara, angered, burned the demon stronghold Tripura completely, along with the Dānavas residing there. The emphasis is that Śiva’s wrath serves the protection and well-being of the three worlds.
