Dhṛtarāṣṭra–Sañjaya Dialogue: Praise of the Host and Inquiry after the Breach
The verse highlights the commander’s role in maintaining order and momentum in battle: clear signals (the conch), personal leadership, and rapid organization of troops. Ethically, it reflects how duty and discipline operate within war, even when the broader conflict raises questions of dharma.
Sañjaya describes Droṇa sounding his conch and personally driving his chariot team with urgency while moving about the battlefield, arranging the soldiers into a battle formation (vyūha).
