भीष्मभीमसमागमः — Bhīṣma–Bhīma Strategic Engagement and Counsel to the King
पश्य माधव सैन्यानि धार्तराष्ट्रस्य संयुगे । व्यूढानि व्यूहविदुषा गाड़ेयेन महात्मना,तत्पश्चात् अर्जुनने अत्यन्त क्रुद्ध होकर भगवान् श्रीकृष्णसे इस प्रकार कहा--“माधव! युद्धस्थलमें दुर्योधनकी इन सेनाओंको देखिये, व्यूहके विद्वान् महात्मा गंगानन्दनने इनका व्यूह रचा है
sañjaya uvāca | paśya mādhava sainyāni dhārtarāṣṭrasya saṃyuge | vyūḍhāni vyūhaviduṣā gāṅgeyena mahātmanā ||
Wika ni Sanjaya: “Masdan mo, O Mādhava, ang mga hukbo ng mga anak ni Dhṛtarāṣṭra na nakahanay para sa labanan. Inihanay sila sa pormasyong pandigma ng dakilang si Bhīṣma, ang isinilang sa Ganga, dalubhasa sa paglalatag ng mga hanay.”
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights the ethical gravity of war: even when conflict is imminent, it is approached through disciplined order (vyūha) and responsible leadership. It frames battle not as chaos but as a duty-bound, strategically governed act—thereby intensifying the moral scrutiny of those who choose and direct violence.
Sanjaya reports the battlefield scene: the Kaurava forces are already arranged in formal battle formation, designed by Bhishma, renowned for mastery of military arrays. The address to “Madhava” situates Krishna as the key witness and guide as the confrontation is about to unfold.
