अध्याय ८० — मध्यंदिन-रणवृत्तान्तः

स तै: परिवृतः पार्थो भ्रातृभि: कृतनिश्चयैः । प्रजासंहरणे सूर्य: क्रूरैरिव महाग्रहै:
sa taiḥ parivṛtaḥ pārtho bhrātṛbhiḥ kṛtaniścayaiḥ | prajāsaṃharaṇe sūryaḥ krūrair iva mahāgrahaiḥ ||
Sinabi ni Sañjaya: Kaya ang anak ni Pṛthā ay napalibutan ng kanyang mga kapatid na may matibay na pasiya—gaya ng Araw sa panahon ng paglipol ng daigdig, na kinukubkob ng malalaki at malulupit na planeta.
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights how collective resolve can become overpowering and ominous when driven by harsh intent; the cosmic simile (Sun beset by cruel grahas at dissolution) frames the moment as morally weighty and foreboding, warning that determined action in a destructive context carries grave ethical consequences.
Sañjaya describes Kuntī’s son (here identified as Bhīma) being encircled by his brothers, all firmly decided on their course of action; the scene is intensified through a comparison to the Sun surrounded by formidable, cruel planets at the time of catastrophic destruction.
