अनीकं पाण्दुपुत्राणां हाहाभूतमचेतनम्‌ | मनुष्य, हाथी और घोड़े सभी बाणोंसे छिद गये थे। रथके ध्वज और कूबर टूटकर गिर चुके थे। इस प्रकार पाण्डवोंकी सेना अचेत-सी होकर हाहाकार कर रही थी

anīkaṃ pāṇḍuputrāṇāṃ hāhābhūtam acetanam |

Wika ni Sañjaya: Ang hanay-pandigma ng mga anak ni Pāṇḍu ay naging tanawin ng nagngangalit na panaghoy, na wari’y nawalan ng ulirat. Ang tao, elepante, at kabayo ay pawang tinuhog ng mga palaso; ang mga watawat ng karwahe at ang pamatok ay nabali at bumagsak. Kaya ang hukbong Pāṇḍava, tuliro at nagkakawatak-watak, ay nagtaas ng malaking daing—ipinakikitang ang dahas ng digmaan ay kayang lamunin kahit ang disiplinadong hukbo at gawing kaguluhan ang kaayusan.
