निष्नन्नमित्रान् समरे वज्पाणिरिवासुरान् | जैसे वज्रपाणि इन्द्र असुरोंका संहार करते हैं, उसी प्रकार महाधनुर्धर भीष्म उस रणक्षेत्रमें शत्रुओंका विनाश करते हुए बारंबार बाणसमूहोंकी वर्षा कर रहे थे
niṣnannamitrān samare vajrapāṇir ivāsurān |
Wika ni Sañjaya: Sa gitna ng labanan, pinupuksa ni Bhīṣma ang mga kaaway gaya ni Vajrapāṇi Indra na dumudurog sa mga Asura. Paulit-ulit niyang ibinubuhos ang ulang-palaso, walang patid, sa larangan ng digmaan.
