Bhīmasena’s Kalinga Engagement and the Approach of Bhīṣma (भीमसेन-कालिङ्ग-संग्रामः)

प्रणेदुर्भिन्नमर्माणो निपेतुश्च गतासव: । प्राद्रवन्त दिश: केचिन्नदन्तो भैरवान्‌ रवान्‌

sañjaya uvāca | praṇedur bhinnamarmāṇo nipetuś ca gatāsavaḥ | prādravanta diśaḥ kecin nadanto bhairavān ravān |

Wika ni Sañjaya: May ilan na, nang madurog ang kanilang mahihinang bahagi at mga dugtungang mahalaga, ay umatungal nang malakas at saka bumagsak sa lupa na wala nang hininga. Ang iba’y tumakas sa lahat ng panig, humuhuni ng nakapanghihilakbot na sigaw. Ipinakikita ng tanawing ito ang malupit na agos ng labanan—na kahit ang pinakadakilang elepanteng pandigma, sagisag ng kapangyarihang hari at disiplin ng pagsasanay, ay nauuwi sa sindak, pagbagsak, at kamatayan sa ilalim ng bagsik ng sandata.
