Shloka 13

अयं ब्रद्मविदां श्रेष्ठो हायं ब्रह्मविदां वर: | इत्यभाषन्त भूतानि शयानं पुरुषर्षभम्‌

ayaṁ brahmavidāṁ śreṣṭho hy ayaṁ brahmavidāṁ varaḥ | ity abhāṣanta bhūtāni śayānaṁ puruṣarṣabham ||

Wika ni Sañjaya: Nang makita si Bhīṣma—ang toro sa hanay ng mga tao—na nakahimlay sa kanyang higaan, nagsalita ang ilang nilalang na makalangit: “Ito ang pinakapanguna sa mga nakakakilala sa Brahman; tunay, siya ang pinakamahusay sa mga nagtataglay ng kaalaman sa Brahma.” Ipinapakita ng tagpong ito na ang pagbagsak ni Bhīṣma ay hindi lamang pagkatalo sa digmaan, kundi pagdakila sa isang buhay na pinanday ng mahigpit na panata, katotohanan, at matatag na dharma—na kinikilala maging ng mga nilalang na higit na mataas.
