Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the terrifying efficacy of martial skill when joined to divine weapon-knowledge, while implicitly raising the ethical gravity of large-scale killing in a war where dharma is contested; prowess does not erase the moral burden of violence.

Sanjaya reports to King Dhritarashtra that Bhishma, leading the Kaurava side, repeatedly cut down vast numbers of opposing warriors in the battle, emphasizing Bhishma’s dominance and the escalating devastation of the conflict.
