बभ्रुवाहन-धनंजययोः संग्रामः
Babhruvāhana and Dhanaṃjaya’s engagement at Maṇipūra
शान्त्यर्थ सर्वयोधानाम भ्यगच्छत पाण्डवम् । समस्त सैन्धव वीरोंको कष्ट पाते जान धृतराष्ट्रकी पुत्री दःशला अपने बेटे सुरथके वीर बालकको जो उसका पौत्र था, साथ ले रथपर सवार हो रणभूमिमें पाण्डुकुमार अर्जुनके पास आयी। उसके आनेका उद्देश्य यह था कि सब योद्धा युद्ध छोड़कर शान्त हो जायूँ || २२-२३ $ ।।
śāntyarthaṁ sarvayodhānām abhyagacchat pāṇḍavam | sā dhṛtarāṣṭrasya duhitā duḥśalā putrasya sūrathasya vīra-bālakaṁ pautraṁ saha rathārūḍhā raṇabhūmau pāṇḍu-kumāram arjunaṁ samupāyayau | tasyāgamana-kāraṇaṁ yathā sarve yodhā yuddhaṁ tyaktvā śāntā bhaveyuḥ || sā dhanañjayam āsādya rurōdārta-svaraṁ tadā ||
Sinabi ni Vaiśampāyana: Sa paghahangad ng kapayapaan para sa lahat ng mandirigma, si Duḥśalā—anak ni Dhṛtarāṣṭra—ay dumating kay Arjuna na Pāṇḍava sa mismong larangan ng digmaan. Nakasakay sa karwaheng pandigma, kasama niya ang isang matapang na munting bata, ang anak ng kanyang anak na si Sūratha—ang sarili niyang apo. Ang layunin ng kanyang pagdating ay upang talikuran ng mga mandirigma ang labanan at humupa ang galit. Pagdating niya kay Dhanañjaya (Arjuna), siya’y umiyak nang may hinagpis at nanginginig na tinig.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Even amid the aftermath of war, dharma can express itself as a deliberate turning toward śānti (peace): a courageous appeal to stop violence, grounded in compassion and the recognition of shared human and familial bonds.
Duḥśalā, Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s daughter, arrives on a chariot at the battlefield with her grandson and approaches Arjuna to seek the pacification of the warriors; upon reaching him, she breaks down and weeps, signaling a plea born of grief and urgency.
