Adhyāya 34: Kṣetrajña-Lakṣaṇa and the Araṇi Metaphor

Mind–Intellect Allegory

सम्यगुपायो दृष्टश्न॒ भ्रमरैरिव लक्ष्यते । कर्मबुद्धिरबुद्धित्वाज्ज्ञानलिज्जैरिवाश्रितम्‌

samyag upāyo dṛṣṭaś ca bhramarair iva lakṣyate | karmabuddhir abuddhitvāj jñānalijjair ivāśritam ||

Wika ng Brahmana: “Nakita na ang ganap at wastong paraan upang matanto ang Katotohanang iyon. Ito’y nakikilala ng sarili nito—gaya ng samyong natatanto ng mga bubuyog—kapag binitiwan ng tao ang mismong gawain ng ‘pagsisikap na makita’ ito. Ngunit ang isip na kumakapit sa pagkilos, sa katotohanan ay isang uri ng di-karunungan; nagmumukha lamang na kahawig ng kaalaman, ngunit hindi ito kaalaman. Kaya’t ang pagkatantong iyon ay hindi naaabot sa pamamagitan ng paggawa lamang.”

Realization is not produced by action; it becomes evident when the compulsive effort of ‘doing’ and the action-centered mindset are relinquished. Karma-oriented intellect can mimic knowledge but does not equal liberating insight.

A Brahmin speaker instructs the listener using an analogy: just as bees find fragrance without forcing it into being, the sought Reality is recognized naturally when one abandons the attempt to grasp it through activity.
