Śrāddha-dvija-parīkṣā: Paṅkti-dūṣa and Paṅkti-pāvana (श्राद्धे द्विजपरीक्षा—पङ्क्तिदूष-पङ्क्तिपावन)
येष्वह:सु कृतै: श्राद्धैर्यत् फलं प्राप्पतेडनघ । तत् सर्व कीर्तयिष्यामि यथावत् तन्निबोध मे
Bhīṣma uvāca: yeṣv ahaḥsu kṛtaiḥ śrāddhair yat phalaṁ prāpyate 'nagha, tat sarvaṁ kīrtayiṣyāmi yathāvat tan nibodha me, niṣpāpa nareśa!
Wika ni Bhīṣma: “O haring walang dungis, ilalarawan ko nang buo—at ayon sa tunay na kalagayan—ang mga bungang nakukuha sa pagsasagawa ng śrāddha sa mga tiyak na araw. Makinig kang mabuti sa akin, O pinunong walang kasalanan.”
भीष्म उवाच
Bhishma introduces a systematic teaching: the merit (phala) of śrāddha varies according to the day on which it is performed, and he will enumerate these results accurately for the king to understand and follow as dharma.
In the Anuśāsana Parva’s instruction section, Bhishma addresses the king (Yudhiṣṭhira) and prepares to explain the outcomes of performing ancestral rites on specific days, signaling a detailed dharma-śāstra style exposition to follow.
