नक्षत्रेषु श्राद्धफलविधानम् (Śrāddha Outcomes According to Nakṣatras)
न देवतानां काचिद्धि समर्था जातवेदस: । एता हि शक्तास्तं गर्भ संधारयितुमोजसा
na devatānāṃ kācid dhi samarthā jātavedasaḥ | etā hi śaktās taṃ garbhaṃ sandhārayitum ojasā ||
Wika ni Bhīṣma: “Sa mga dalagang makalangit, wala ni isa ang may kakayahang magtiis sa naglalagablab na kapangyarihan ni Jātavedas (Agni). Tanging ang mga Kṛttikā na ito ang may lakas upang dalhin at alagaan ang binhing iyon sa pamamagitan ng sarili nilang sigla.”

Bhīṣma explains why the Kṛttikās were chosen to bear and nourish a divine embryo associated with Agni’s blazing energy: no other celestial woman could sustain that fiery potency, whereas the Kṛttikās could support it through their own ojas.
