शक्यं होवाहवे योद्धं न दातुमनसूयितम्
śakyaṃ hovāhave yoddhaṃ na dātum anasūyitam
Wika ni Bhīṣma: Sa digmaan, maaaring makatagpo ng isang mandirigma; ngunit hindi maaaring ipagkaloob (o matiyak) ang isang taong malaya sa inggit at sa ugaling maghanap ng kapintasan. Ang gayong disposisyon ay hindi basta naibibigay—kailangang linangin bilang isang birtud.
