Adhyāya 60: Dāna vs. Yajña—Royal Giving, Protection, and Karmic Share
पुरुषप्रवर! तब शक्तिशाली राजा युधिष्ठिरने पाण्डवोंसे कहा--“वीरमार्गके विषयमें पितामहका जो कथन है, उसीमें तुम सब लोगोंकी रुचि होनी चाहिये' ।।
tatas tu pāṇḍavāḥ sarve draupadī ca yaśasvinī | yudhiṣṭhirasya tad vākyaṃ bāḍham ity abhipūjayan ||
O pinakadakila sa mga lalaki! Sinabi ng makapangyarihang haring si Yudhiṣṭhira sa mga Pāṇḍava: “Tungkol sa landas ng kabayanihan, ang sinabi ng Lolo (Bhīṣma) ang siyang dapat ninyong ikalugod.” Pagkaraan, ang lahat ng Pāṇḍava, kasama ang marangal na si Draupadī, ay nagbigay-galang sa mga salita ni Yudhiṣṭhira at sumagot: “Tunay nga—nawa’y mangyari.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights dharmic discipline: when a rightful leader articulates guidance grounded in elder authority and the warrior code, the community’s proper response is respectful assent and alignment of intention with that teaching.
After Yudhiṣṭhira speaks (in context, endorsing the grandsire’s instruction on the heroic/warrior path), all the Pāṇḍavas and Draupadī respond together, approving his words with “bāḍham”—a formal, respectful acceptance.
