निष्पत्रमफलं शुष्कमशरण्यं पतत्रिणाम्‌ | किमर्थ सेवसे वृक्ष यदा महदिदं वनम्‌

Transliteration

niṣpatram aphalaṃ śuṣkam aśaraṇyaṃ patatriṇām | kimarthaṃ sevase vṛkṣa yadā mahad idaṃ vanam ||

Translation

Wika ni Bhishma: “Shuka! Ang punong ito’y wala nang dahon, wala nang bunga, at tuyot na; hindi na ito masisilungan ng mga ibon. Kung naririto ang malawak na gubat na ito, bakit ka kumakapit sa punong tila tuod na lamang?”
