पात्रलक्षण-परिक्षा (Pātra-Lakṣaṇa Parīkṣā) — Criteria for a Worthy Recipient

यद्‌ ब्राह्मणमुखात्‌ प्राप्तं प्रतिगृह्लन्ति वै वच: । भूतात्मानो महात्मानस्ते न यान्ति पराभवम्‌

yad brāhmaṇamukhāt prāptaṁ pratigṛhlanti vai vacaḥ | bhūtātmāno mahātmānas te na yānti parābhavam ||

Wika ni Bhishma: Ang mga dakilang-loob, na ang kalooban sa loob ay nakaayon sa lahat ng nilalang, ay tumatanggap bilang may bigat at dapat paniwalaan ang payong nagmumula sa bibig ng isang brāhmaṇa. Ang gayong mga tao ay hindi nahuhulog sa pagkatalo o kapahamakan—sapagkat pinipili nila ang patnubay na nakaugat sa dharma, hindi sa bugso ng damdamin o sa pagmamataas.
