Mataṅga–Śakra Dialogue on Tapas, Status, and Moral Qualities

सबका कारण, सबसे श्रेष्ठ, रजोगुणरहित, अत्यन्त सूक्ष्म, मरे हुए प्राणियोंके लिये सुखद शगय्या, तीव्र वेगसे बहनेवाली, पवित्र जलका स्रोत बहानेवाली, यश देनेवाली, जगत्‌की रक्षा करनेवाली, सत्स्वरूपा तथा अभीष्टको सिद्ध करनेवाली भगवती गंगा अपने भीतर स्नान करनेवालोंके लिये स्वर्गका मार्ग बन जाती हैं ।।

sarvakāraṇaṃ sarvaśreṣṭhaṃ rajoguṇarahitaṃ atyanta-sūkṣmaṃ mṛta-prāṇibhyas sukhaśayyāṃ tīvravegena vahantīṃ pavitrajalasrotovahāṃ yaśodāṃ jagatrakṣikāṃ satsvarūpāṃ tathābhīṣṭasiddhipradāṃ bhagavatīṃ gaṅgāṃ ye ’ntarjale snānti teṣāṃ sā svargamārgaṃ bhavati || kṣāntyā bhūmā gopane dhāraṇe ca dīptyā kṛśānos tapanasya caiva | tulyā gaṅgā sammatā brāhmaṇānāṃ guhasya brahmaṇyatayā ca nityam ||

Ipinahayag ng Siddha na ang Diyosa na si Gaṅgā ang pangkalahatang sanhi at ang pinakadakila sa mga tagapaglinis—malaya sa pag-uga ng rajas (pagnanasa), lubhang maselan at di-maabot ng pandama, at isang mapagpahingahang higaan maging para sa mga yumao. Mabilis ang agos niya; ibinubuhos niya ang banal na batis, nagkakaloob ng dangal at katanyagan, nagtatanggol sa daigdig, sumasakatawan sa tunay na pag-iral, at tumutupad sa minimithing layon. Sa mga naliligo sa kanyang tubig, siya’y nagiging landas patungong langit. Sa pagtitiis, siya’y tulad ng lupa; sa pag-iingat at pagtaguyod, tulad din siya ng lupa; at sa ningning, tulad siya ng apoy at ng araw. Laging pinararangalan ng mga Brāhmaṇa, siya rin ay minamahal at iginagalang ni Guha (Kārttikeya), sapagkat patuloy niyang pinapaboran ang brahmaṇya—ang debosyon sa Brahman at ang pag-iingat sa banal na kaayusan.
