Mataṅga–Śakra Dialogue on Tapas, Status, and Moral Qualities
मधुस्रवा घृतधारा घृतार्चि- महोर्मिभि: शोभिता ब्राह्मणैश्न । दिवश्ष्युता शिरसा55प्ता शिवेन गज्भावनीधात् त्रिदिवस्य माता
madhusravā ghṛtadhārā ghṛtārciḥ mahormibhiḥ śobhitā brāhmaṇaiś ca | divaḥ cyutā śirasā guptā śivena gajabhāvanī dhāt trividivasya mātā śrībhāgīrathī ||
Wika ng Siddha: Si Śrī Bhāgīrathī (Gaṅgā) ay dumadaloy na may tamis, bumubuhos na tila batis ng ghee, at nagniningning na parang liyab ng ghee. Siya’y lalong nagiging maringal dahil sa kanyang malalakas na alon at sa mga Brahmin na naliligo sa kanya at nagsasagawa ng mga ritong sandhyā. Nang siya’y bumaba mula sa langit, tinanggap at iningatan siya ni Śiva sa kanyang ulo; at pagdating sa Himālaya, siya’y bumaba sa lupa. Kaya ang Gaṅgā—ang Bhāgīrathī—ay pinupuri bilang ina ng makalangit na daigdig: tagapaglinis, mapalad, at tagapagtaguyod ng buhay-dharma sa pamamagitan ng banal na pagsasagawa.
सिद्ध उवाच
The verse teaches the sanctity and purifying power of Gaṅgā: her waters are portrayed as auspicious and luminous, supporting dharmic life through ritual bathing and sandhyā worship, and her descent is framed as a divine, orderly act safeguarded by Śiva.
A Siddha praises Gaṅgā (Bhāgīrathī), describing her sweet, radiant flow, her mighty waves, and the Brahmins who worship and bathe in her. It recounts her descent from heaven, her being borne on Śiva’s head, and her coming down via the Himālaya to the earth.
