Brāhmaṇya-प्रश्नः — The Inquiry into Attaining Brāhmaṇya
Mataṅga–Gardabhī Itihāsa
The verse underscores the dharmic value of tīrtha-yātrā—seeking moral and spiritual refinement through reverent visitation of sanctified places. The implied teaching is that external acts like pilgrimage and sacred bathing are meaningful when they support inner purity, restraint, and righteous conduct.
The speaker, Ajaḍriya, is listing prominent pilgrimage destinations and sacred bathing sites. This functions as part of a broader discourse in the Anuśāsana Parva that catalogs dharmic practices and the merits associated with holy places.
