Mataṅga–Gardabhī Itihāsa
काश्मीरमण्डले नद्यो या: पतन्ति महानदम् | ता नदी: सिन्धुमासाद्य शीलवान् स्वर्गमाप्तुयात्
kāśmīramaṇḍale nadyo yāḥ patanti mahānadam | tā nadīḥ sindhum āsādya śīlavān svargam āptuyāt ||
Wika ni Ajaḍriya: “Sa lupain ng Kashmir, alinmang ilog na bumabagsak at sumasanib sa dakilang ilog na Sindhu—ang sinumang makarating sa mga ilog na iyon at sa Sindhu at maligo roon, kung siya’y taong may mabuting asal, ay makaaabot sa langit pagkamatay.”
अजड्रिय उवाच
The verse links sacred bathing at revered rivers (especially those joining the Sindhu) with the ethical prerequisite of śīla (good conduct), implying that ritual acts bear their promised fruit most fittingly when grounded in moral character.
Ajadriya is describing a tīrtha-related merit: rivers of the Kashmir region that descend into the great river and the Sindhu itself are presented as sacred bathing places, and he states the resulting fruit—heaven after death—for a person of good conduct who bathes there.
