कर्मेज्या मानवानां च दानवैहैंहयर्षभ । भ्रष्टैश्चर्यास्ततो देवाश्चेरु: पृथ्वीमिति श्रुति:
karmejyā mānavānāṃ ca dānavair haihayarṣabha | bhraṣṭaiś caryās tato devāś ceruḥ pṛthvīm iti śrutiḥ ||
Wika ni Bhishma: “O pinakamalakas sa angkan ng Haihaya, ayon sa sali’t saling sabi, pinawi ng mga Dānava ang mga ritwal ng gawa at paghahandog sa mga tao. Dahil napagkaitan ng wastong pagtalima at nahulog mula sa kanilang banal na kasaganaan, ang mga diyos ay nagpagala-gala sa lupa sa dalamhati.”
