धर्मनिन्दा–धर्मोपासनाफलम् तथा साध्वाचारलक्षणम्

सदोपवासी नियत: स्वाध्यायनिरत: शुचि: । बहिष्कान्तरिते नित्यं शयानो5ग्निगृहे सदा

sadopavāsī niyataḥ svādhyāya-nirataḥ śuciḥ | bahiṣkāntarite nityaṁ śayāno ’gni-gṛhe sadā ||

Wika ni Maheshvara: “Maging siya’y palagiang nagsasagawa ng pag-aayuno, may disiplina, masigasig sa svādhyāya (sariling pagbigkas at pag-aaral ng mga banal na teksto), at malinis. Lagi siyang mahimlay sa isang liblib na pook, at palaging matulog sa santuwaryo ng apoy (agni-gṛha).” Pinupuri ng talatang ito ang buhay ng pagpipigil, kalinisan, at paghubog ng sarili ayon sa Veda, at itinatanghal ang asetikong gawi bilang saligan ng katatagan ng isip at pamumuhay na maka-dharma.
