Śiva-nāmānukīrtana-prastāvaḥ
Prologue to the praise of Śiva and the Upamanyu testimony
The passage highlights the cultural-religious ideal of seeking worthy progeny through divine grace, linking family continuity and social responsibility (gṛhastha-dharma) with devotion and reverent supplication.
Vāsudeva (Kṛṣṇa) enumerates his sons born of Rukmiṇī and, in the given contextual framing, a request is voiced to Madhusūdana to grant similar sons—emphasizing the theme of divine bestowal and lineage.
