Nārāyaṇa-tejas: Kṛṣṇa’s Vrata, the Fire-Manifestation, and the Sages’ Inquiry
The verse teaches that even the gravest moral transgressions can be overcome through tapas (austerity/penance), implying the possibility of purification and ethical restoration when disciplined expiation is undertaken.
In Anuśāsana Parva, Bhīṣma is instructing on dharma and the means of atonement. Here he lists severe offenses and asserts that austerity can enable one to cross beyond sin and be freed from guilt.
