आषाढमेकभ क्तेन स्थित्वा मासमतन्द्रित: । बहुधान्यो बहुधनो बहुपुत्रश्न जायते,जो आषाढ़ मासमें आलस्य छोड़कर एक समय भोजन करके रहता है, वह बहुत-से धन-धान्य और पुत्रोंसे सम्पन्न होता है
Āṣāḍham ekabhaktena sthitvā māsam atandritaḥ | bahudhānyo bahudhano bahuputraś ca jāyate ||
Wika ni Aṅgiras: Kung sa buwan ng Āṣāḍha ang isang tao’y mamuhay nang walang katamaran at sa buong buwan ay minsan lamang kumain sa maghapon, siya’y pagkakalooban ng saganang ani, saganang yaman, at maraming anak.
अंगियरा उवाच
The verse teaches that steady self-control—specifically, observing a one-meal-a-day discipline throughout Āṣāḍha without laziness—is a dharmic practice believed to generate merit that ripens as material sufficiency (grain and wealth) and family increase (children).
In Anuśāsana Parva’s instruction-focused setting, the sage Aṅgiras states a result-oriented rule of conduct: a seasonal/monthly observance (vrata) and its promised fruits, presenting ethical discipline as a practical path to well-being.
