पतितैस्तु कथां नेच्छेद्‌ दर्शनं च विवर्जयेत्‌ । संसर्ग च न गच्छेत तथा<<युर्विन्दते महत्‌

patitais tu kathāṁ necched darśanaṁ ca vivarjayet | saṁsargaṁ ca na gaccheta tathā āyur vindate mahat ||

Wika ni Bhīṣma: Huwag hangaring makipag-usap sa mga nalugmok sa asal (mga napariwara), iwasan maging ang pagtanaw sa kanila, at huwag makipag-ugnayan o makihalubilo sa kanila. Sa ganitong disiplinadong pag-iwas, sinasabing nakakamit ng tao ang mahabang buhay—sapagkat napangangalagaan ang kanyang asal at kadalisayan laban sa nakasisirang impluwensiya.
