देवानभ्यर्चयच्चापि विधिवत् स सुरेश्वर: । सवनिव यथान्यायं यथापूर्वमरिंदम,शत्रुदमन! वे देवेश्वर नहुष विधिपूर्वक सभी देवताओंका पूर्ववत् यथोचितरूपसे पूजन किया करते थे
bhīṣma uvāca | devān abhyarcayac cāpi vidhivat sa sureśvaraḥ | savanīva yathānyāyaṃ yathāpūrvam ariṃdama śatrudamana |
Wika ni Bhīṣma: “O manlulupig ng kaaway, si Nahūṣa—nang maging pinuno ng mga diyos—ay sumamba sa lahat ng diyos ayon sa itinakdang tuntunin, sa tamang oras at tamang paraan, gaya ng nakagawian noon pa man.”
भीष्म उवाच
Authority and power are to be exercised within dharma: even a ruler of the gods must maintain prescribed rites and established norms. Proper worship (vidhivat) and acting as is fitting (yathānyāyam) reflect ethical governance grounded in tradition rather than personal whim.
Bhishma describes Nahusha’s conduct after attaining the position of sureśvara: he continues the customary worship of the gods in the correct ritual manner and at proper times, preserving the prior order of observances.
