आदि पर्व, अध्याय 96 — काश्यकन्याहरणं, शाल्वसमागमः, अम्बावचनं च
Kāśī princesses taken; encounter with Śālva; Ambā’s declaration
किंतु लघ्वर्थसंयुक्त प्रियाख्यानं न मामति । प्रीणात्यतो भवान् भूयो विस्तरेण ब्रवीतु मे,परंतु संक्षेपसे कहा हुआ यह प्रिय आख्यान सुनकर मुझे पूर्णतः तृप्ति नहीं हो रही है। अत: आप पुनः विस्तारपूर्वक मुझसे इसी दिव्य कथाका वर्णन कीजिये। दक्ष प्रजापति और मनुसे लेकर उन सब राजाओंका पवित्र जन्म-प्रसंग किसको प्रसन्न नहीं करेगा?
kintu laghv-artha-saṁyuktaṁ priyākhyānaṁ na mām ati | prīṇāty ato bhavān bhūyo vistareṇa bravītu me ||
Sinabi ni Janamejaya: “Ngunit ang minamahal na salaysay na ito, bagaman makahulugan kahit sa maikling anyo, ay hindi pa rin lubos na nakapagpapasapat sa akin. Kaya, isalaysay mo itong muli sa akin nang mas malawig. Sino ang hindi malulugod na marinig ang mga banal na salaysay ng kapanganakan ng mga haring iyon, mula kay Dakṣa Prajāpati at Manu?”
