Duḥṣantasya Vana-praveśaḥ

King Duḥṣanta’s Entry into the Forest Hunt

(ततः सत्यवती हृष्टा जगाम स्वं निवेशनम्‌ । तस्यास्त्वायोजनाद्‌ गन्धमाजिध्रन्ति नरा भुवि ।।

tataḥ satyavatī hṛṣṭā jagāma svaṃ niveśanam | tasyāstv āyojanād gandham ājighranti narā bhuvi || dāśarājas tu tad gandham ājighran prītim āvahat || dāśa uvāca | tvām āhur matsyagandheti kathaṃ bāle sugandhatā | apāsya matsyagandhatvaṃ kena dattā sugandhatā || satyavaty uvāca | śaktiḥ putro mahāprajñaḥ parāśara iti smṛtaḥ | nāvaṃ vāhayamānāyā mama dṛṣṭvā sugarhitaṃ | apāsya matsyagandhatvaṃ yojanād gandhatāṃ dadau | ṛṣeḥ prasādaṃ dṛṣṭvā tu janāḥ prītim upāgaman ||

Pagkaraan nito, si Satyavatī, na punô ng galak, ay umuwi sa kanilang tahanan. Mula sa araw na iyon, nadarama ng mga tao sa daigdig ang kanyang banal na halimuyak kahit mula sa layong isang yojana. Maging ang kanyang ama, ang haring mangingisdang si Dāśarāja, ay nakaamoy nito at labis na natuwa. Tinanong ni Dāśarāja: “Anak ko! Dati’y tinatawag kang ‘Matsyagandhā’ dahil sa amoy-isda. Paano ka ngayo’y naging mabango? Sino ang nag-alis ng amoy-isda at nagkaloob sa iyo ng ganitong halimuyak?” Sumagot si Satyavatī: “Ama! Ang dakilang rishi na si Parāśara—ang marunong na anak ni Śakti—ay nakita ako habang ako’y nagpapalakad ng bangka. Napansin niya ang aking masamang amoy at naawa; inalis niya ang amoy-isda at pinagkalooban ako ng halimuyak na umaabot hanggang isang yojana. Nang makita ng mga tao ang biyayang iyon ng rishi, sila’y nagalak.”
