King Duḥṣanta’s Entry into the Forest Hunt
भरद्वाजस्य च स्कन्न॑ द्रोण्यां शुक्रमवर्धत । महर्षेरुग्रतपसस्तस्माद् द्रोणो व्यजायत,एक समय उग्रतपस्वी महर्षि भरद्वाजका वीर्य किसी द्रोणी (पर्वतकी गुफा)-में स्खलित होकर धीरे-धीरे पुष्ट होने लगा। उसीसे द्रोणका जन्म हुआ
Bharadvājasya ca skannaṃ droṇyāṃ śukram avardhata | maharṣer ugratapasaḥ tasmād droṇo vyajāyata ||
Wika ni Dāśa: Ang binhi (semilya) ng dakilang rishi na si Bharadvāja—isang ascetic na may mabagsik na pag-aayuno at pagtitika—ay nalaglag sa isang droṇī (parang sisidlan o hukay na gaya ng labangan), at doon ito unti-unting lumaki at nahinog. Mula sa binhing iyon isinilang si Droṇa. Ipinapakita ng pangyayaring ito ang paulit-ulit na diwa sa Mahābhārata: na ang pambihirang kapanganakan ay maaaring sumibol mula sa kapangyarihan ng tapas at sa di-karaniwang pagkakataon, at inihahanda ang itinadhanang papel ni Droṇa sa mga darating na tunggalian ng dharma at digmaan.
दाश उवाच
The verse highlights the potency of tapas (ascetic discipline) and the Mahābhārata motif that remarkable destinies may arise through unconventional births; moral and historical consequences can flow from the spiritual power and actions of sages.
Daśa narrates Droṇa’s origin: Bharadvāja’s generative seed falls into a droṇī, develops there, and from it Droṇa is born—explaining Droṇa’s name and setting up his later significance in the epic’s martial narrative.
