Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the cultural-ethical ideal of honoring and pleasing respected guests or eminent persons through courteous service (upacāra)—music, dance, song, and praise offered with genuine goodwill (prīti).

After a preceding event, many women come to the two individuals mentioned and attend upon them, entertaining them with instrumental music and dance, and approaching with affectionate songs and eulogies.
