समन्तपञ्चक-आख्यानम् तथा अक्षौहिणी-प्रमाणनिर्णयः
Samantapañcaka Narrative and the Measure of an Akṣauhiṇī
अन्नौषधीनां च कृते पाण्डवेन महात्मना । द्विजानां भरणार्थ च कृतमाराधनं रवे:,महात्मा युधिष्ठिरने पहले अनुयायी ब्राह्मणोंक भरण-पोषणके लिये अन्न और ओषधियाँ प्राप्त करनेके उद्देश्यसे सूर्यभभगवान्की आराधना की
annauṣadhīnāṃ ca kṛte pāṇḍavena mahātmanā | dvijānāṃ bharaṇārthaṃ ca kṛtam ārādhanaṃ raveḥ ||
Upang makamtan ang pagkain at mga halamang-gamot, ang Pāṇḍava na may dakilang diwa ay nagsagawa ng pagsamba sa Diyos-Araw. Ginawa niya ito upang matustusan at alalayan ang mga “dalawang ulit na isinilang” (mga Brahmin) na umaasa sa kanya—isang gawaing naglalarawan sa paghahari bilang paglilingkod, at sa debosyon bilang pagtupad sa tungkuling dharma ng pag-aaruga at pagkamapagpatuloy.
राम उवाच
Dharma is expressed as responsible care: a ruler or householder should ensure the sustenance of dependents—especially guests and Brahmins—using righteous means. Devotion (ārādhana) is shown not as mere ritual, but as a way to fulfill ethical duties of support and welfare.
The Pāṇḍava (understood here as Yudhiṣṭhira) performs worship of the Sun (Ravi/Sūrya) to obtain provisions—food and medicinal herbs—so that the Brahmins who follow and rely on him may be maintained.
